Nuggets so far from Alisa:
My faith was rocked by a pastor who had won my trust, respect and loyalty.
Many in the class (the progressive class she got deceived in) dismissed “fundies” (fundamentalists) as fearful dimwits who simply followed what they were told to believe.
It seemed I was the only one in the room who was troubled by what I was asked to respond to.
It was the progressive’s pastor’s deconstruction and he was attempting to take us with him.
I’d been blind sighted by the discovery that people I worshipped with every week had vastly different views on what I assumed were non-negotiables of the Christian faith.
(Alisa says that most progressives come out of the church…and here is how they may have got there….Post Traumatic Church Syndrome)
He (the pastor at the progressive church) praised those who didn’t know what they believed and gazed with perplexed wonderment at those who expressed any kind of certainty. (aka me)
The progressive view of the Bible is to see it as primarily a human book. Not all of it is authoritative. Not all of it is inspired. Not all of it is inerrant.
“Who believes you were born good and who believes we were born sinners?” the progressive pastor asked one day.
And because he was my “shepherd” who had won my respect and trust,
I let my guard down. ~Alisa
If you think you have been influenced in any way by progressives, I would encourage you to read this book.
