I had the privilege to be with a Gap Year squad today that I had gone evangelizing with here in Gainesville. They are now about to fly to Guatemala.

When I shared with them the first time about evangelism, last year, I told them that Christians will even downplay how we shouldn’t use the Bible to evangelize as it “isn’t relevant” or “you can’t say ‘the Bible says’ because people don’t believe the Bible is authoritative.”

I ain’t drinking that kool-said.

I told them the Bible is alive and active, sharper than any two edged sword piercing through bone and marrow. (Heb 4:12)

The Racers and I watched as people we would evangelize to had visceral reactions to the Word of God. It proves that people can say it’s not relevant…the proof is in the pudding.

I encouraged them to use the Word when they witness and to read the Word themselves. To know the light also helps to know when something is dark. That the obvious is confusing nowadays and we need to know the Word.

In Ephesians 6:17 says “…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

The Word of God is a sword.

I shared with them more stories and pointers for evangelism and then asked what stories they had from their time back home for Thanksgiving through Christmas. Stories came out of reaching friends, having older people baffled (in a good way) that a Gen X’er was reading her Bible in public, ministering to the homeless, and more.

These Gap Year (age 18-20) are about to go to Guatemala and share Jesus. Knowing that was their next stop, I told them specific stories from my three trips to Guatemala with my home church.

I brought in a bin of Spanish New Testaments and full Bibles. I wasn’t sure how many they would want to take because of the limited amount you can carry in your pack as a Racer.

THEY TOOK ALL OF THEM! Like maybe 30-40 Bibles! I love that so much.

One Racer came up to me after and asked if I had any more Bibles because he had more room in his bag.

I want you to take that in.

This is the upcoming generation.

So I said that I didn’t have more Spanish Bibles, but I could bring him some English ones. He knew that wouldn’t help him in Guatemala. Then I said “Wait, I have Bibles that I keep in my car….and I think some of them are Spanish!”

So, we went to my car and I opened my Guatemala bag that I keep my Bibles in for my car. Sure enough, I had more Spanish ones. I asked “How many do you want?” He said “As many as you want to give me.”

I gave him all that I had left.

And here he is with at least 9 more Bibles!

If you are discouraged by the state of our nation in any way today…I want you to know what else happened on January 6th, 2021.

There is a remnant. They are 18-20 years old and ON FIRE FOR GOD! They are leaving the comforts of home to head into the nations and are eager to share Jesus.

My hope is to visit them in Guatemala. I’ll keep ya posted.
