I asked my sister, Elizabeth, to write a blog about her time with World Race America. She recently just hosted them when they were in Delaware.
Here are her words.
When discussing the topic of hosting a team for World Race America, my anxiety increased because I am an introvert and have a hard time conversing with new people and letting people into my world.
I continuously talked with God and prayed about the missionaries coming, and I was continuously told by God that they were supposed to come to Lewes, DE.
I knew there was a need in our community with an increase in sex trafficking, drug overdoses and homelessness and I knew there was things that they could do. What I did not expect was to see what I saw happen why they were here and to see the plan that God so meticulously put together.
I don’t know why I struggle with totally giving myself over to God and letting him be in control, but I am a work in progress, and I know he is still working with me and will always be.
What I didn’t see happening when the planning stages were going on for World Race America was a young lady at church that I had not met had talked with our pastor about an outreach program that she wanted to start with the church.
The pastor connected this young lady with me to help her with finding employment and a friendship blossomed from that. During one of our discussions, she shared with me about wanting to do mission work and that she was vegan. I shared with her about World Race America coming and how some of them were vegan (that is God right there).
She stated that would love to make food for them while they were here and that she would be interested in meeting them. The blossom was blooming! I was able to connect this young lady to the leader of the team that was coming to Delaware and they were able to schedule times for this young lady to work alongside the team while they were in Delaware.
The day that I met the team, I was amazed by the individuals that were standing in our kitchen. Individually they had such a presence to them filled with smiles, ambition, and a love for God.
Together as a team though, they had something that was amazing to watch and explore. Two of them had just joined this group and they immediately bonded and formed relationships. The love and respect that they have for one another is amazing.
For 10 days, I watched, I listened, and I was able to have a deeper understanding for what Gods work is and what the love that each person should have for another should look like. The unconditional love that each one of them carries is amazing!
The team started working in the community with several organizations and they formed a bond with the young lady from my church so easily and gracefully. I watched as God’s plan was put into place and they were able to help connect this young lady with so many people in our community to assist her with starting the church’s outreach program. The love for Jesus grew in this young lady and a fire was lit that I know will shine for decades and impact so many other people in the little town of Lewes, Delaware.
Y’all. Now it’s time for TT. This is MY SISTER!
Now, I need to brag on her a little.
She JUST moved into her first home. Her and her husband GAVE up their bedroom so the girls could sleep in there. That’s like what people do in other countries that blows my mind!
The guys slept in a spare room and her and her husband in their spare room. She filled the fridge for the team too. I just love to watch Jesus pour out of them.
And just like that, my sis hosted her first mission’s team in America.
Her cats were appreciated too:
