He told me to listen to the book of Revelation yesterday. That’s not His first time in the last few years telling me to listen to it. Plus I am reading Revelation currently.
I have a hard time with fence straddlers. And Jesus did too. Those who take a little bit of cold water and a little bit of hot water to not offend either side and become what they made themselves….lukewarm and call it something spiritual like “unity.”
I get it. I know what it means to fear man.
Those Peters who have too much fear about what man thinks of them to have some guts and stand for something. Thankfully Jesus didn’t stop with Peter’s fear. He said “If you love Me, take care of My sheep.”
If you aren’t getting persecuted in our current climate, I would wonder if you were standing for anything. All I know is persecution started once Peter got the Holy Spirit and power.
Jesus had a way to describe fence straddlers. He called them “Lukewarm.” They weren’t on the cold side or the hot side…they were sipping on the Kool-aid of “unity” and sacrificing sound doctrine on that altar.
Jesus said He will spit you out of His mouth if you are lukewarm. (Rev 3:16)
It makes me wanna spit too.
Reading Amos today and it talks about God using a plumb line to see if the wall was still straight.
God: I will test My people with this plumb line.
Amos speaks what God tells him to and then the priest tells Amos to leave his job as prophet, go somewhere else and not bother him with his prophecies.
Amos: I’m not a professional prophet and I was never trained to be one. I’m just a shepherd…but the Lord called me away from the flock and said to prophesy…
I can so relate. I just take care of sheep..but I’ll be faithful when the Lord tells me to speak up. Even if none in the house stand with me, catch me not straddling a fence, especially with the Lord’s dropping a plumb line.
